Student Teacher Team Selected for Cooperative Learning Experience in Normandy

Junior Zachary Meiselbach and his history teacher, Katie Gilbert were selected to participate in the 2017 Normandy: Sacrifice for Freedom Albert H. Small Teacher and Student Institute offered through National History Day. Over the next six months the pair will be participating in a program of student-teacher cooperative learning. Their work will culminate in their participation in the Institute, which will begin in Washington DC, and end in Normandy, France this summer. This program only selects 15 students annually, and Meiselbach  is one of only 90 students to have ever been accepted. They begin a special online course this month which will then end with them visiting DC and Normandy. The Institute gives the team the opportunity to honor a WWII Silent Hero who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country during the Normandy D-Day landings. View the Mississippi Press article here.
